Selection guide for winding machine: How to match the appropriate reducer according to the weight of the goods
1、 Clarify load characteristics and torque requirementsDistinguishing load types: The winding machine generates inertia during startup and shutdown, which is a typical impact load. Especially when packaging heavy goods, the torque at the moment of start stop will suddenly increase. Therefore, when selecting, one cannot only consider the "rated torque", but must ensure that the "peak torque" of the gearbox can withstand the impact force at the moment of starting.
Calculate the required torque: The torque should be calculated based on the weight of the equipment (including the maximum weight of the goods), and a safety margin should be reserved. The recommended safety factor for conventional equipment is 1.2 (with a 20% margin), while for equipment with heavy loads or large impacts, the safety factor needs to be increased to 1.5 times or more.

2、 Match the type of gearbox based on the weight of the goods
Different weight grades of goods have different requirements for the bearing capacity and structure of the gearbox:
Light and medium goods (standard pallets): Conventional cylindrical gear reducers or helical gear reducers can be used. This type of reducer has high transmission efficiency, simple structure, and can meet the continuous packaging operation of daily standard goods.
Overloaded goods (such as single pallets weighing over 1 ton): Overloaded goods require extremely high driving force for the turntable and overall rigidity of the equipment. It is recommended to prioritize the use of helical gear reducers or planetary reducers with stronger load-bearing capacity to ensure smooth operation under continuous operation and avoid equipment damage due to long-term heavy loads.
3、 Match core parameters with operational control
Determine the reduction ratio: Calculate the reduction ratio based on the rated speed of the motor and the required output speed of the winding machine turntable. For heavy-duty cargo, special attention should be paid to the start stop control of the turntable. It is recommended to choose a drive system with variable frequency speed regulation function and set the acceleration time to 3-5 seconds (soft start) to reduce the shaking and displacement caused by inertia of the heavy cargo.
Transmission efficiency and lifespan: For heavy-duty winding machines that require 24-hour continuous operation, high transmission efficiency (such as more than 95% planetary reducers or high-quality helical gear reducers) can effectively reduce energy consumption and heat generation during long-term operation, and extend equipment lifespan.
4、 Combining special working conditions and environment
Installation space limitation: If the internal space of the winding machine is compact, flange installation or hollow shaft reducer can be considered to save axial size and improve transmission reliability.
Special environment adaptation: If the winding machine operates in low temperature, humid or dusty environments (such as cold storage, food factories), it is necessary to choose a reducer with corresponding protection level (such as IP65 or above), made of stainless steel material or treated with waterproof and moisture-proof measures to avoid component jamming or short circuits.
