What is the impact of ambient temperature on the service life of CWS250-25 worm gear reducer
The ambient temperature has a significant impact on the service life of the CWS250-25 worm gear reducer. Inappropriate temperatures can accelerate material aging, lubrication failure, and mechanical wear, and in severe cases, can shorten the equipment life to 1/4 of normal operating conditions.1、 The main hazards of high temperature environment (>40 ℃)
CWS250-25 belongs to the worm gear reducer, and its transmission is mainly based on sliding friction, which generates a large amount of heat. When the ambient temperature exceeds 40 ℃, it will trigger a series of chain reactions:
1. The performance of lubricating oil deteriorates sharply: for every 10 ℃ increase in temperature, the viscosity of the oil decreases by about 30%, the oil film becomes thinner or even ruptures, resulting in "dry friction" on the tooth surface and a doubling of the wear rate.

2. Lubrication vicious cycle: High temperature accelerates the oxidation and carbonization of lubricating oil, resulting in sludge blocking the oil circuit, ineffective additives, and further exacerbating wear.
3. Material performance degradation: Softening of worm gear (tin bronze), decrease in surface hardness of worm gear (alloy steel), and susceptibility to bonding, pitting, or tooth breakage.
4. Aging of seals: Rubber oil seals harden and crack at high temperatures, causing oil leakage, polluting the environment, and exacerbating internal wear.
5. Motor associated risk: Increased resistance of the reducer can cause overload of the drive motor, which may result in overheating protection shutdown or even burnout.
Suggestion: If the ambient temperature remains above 40 ℃, a forced cooling device (such as a fan or water cooling system) should be installed.
2、 Risk of low temperature environment (<-10 ℃)
1. Lubricating oil solidification: At low temperatures, the viscosity of lubricating oil suddenly increases or even solidifies, and an effective oil film cannot be formed during start-up, resulting in "cold welding" or sticking.
2. Sealing shrinkage: The shrinkage of rubber seals may create gaps, allowing moisture and dust to enter the box and cause corrosion.
3. Increased metal brittleness: Extreme low temperatures may cause some metal materials to become brittle, affecting structural strength.
Suggestion: Preheat and use low-temperature lubricating oil (such as synthetic oil) before use in low-temperature environments.
3、 Ideal working temperature range
According to the design standards of CWS type reducers, the working environment temperature should be controlled between -40 ℃ and 40 ℃. Within this range, with regular oil changes (every 2000-5000 hours) and standardized operation, the equipment can operate stably for many years.
