How to check the side clearance of SCWS200-20-IF worm gear reducer during installation
The methods for checking the side clearance of SCWS200-20-IF worm gear reducer mainly include feeler gauge method, dial gauge method, and lead pressure method, as follows:Feeler gauge method: First, clean the meshing teeth of the reducer to ensure that there are no oil stains, impurities, or other factors that affect the measurement. Then use a feeler gauge to directly insert between the meshing teeth of the worm gear and worm, and measure the tooth flank clearance. When measuring, multiple measurements need to be taken at different positions on the circumference of the worm gear (such as 120 ° equal positions), and the average value should be taken as the side clearance value. This method is suitable for situations with large side clearances and is easy to operate, but the accuracy is relatively low.

Dial gauge method: Fix the dial gauge on the housing so that the measuring head of the dial gauge is pressed against the worm gear tooth surface. Fix the worm gear and then rotate it forward and backward. The maximum difference between the dial indicator pointer and the worm gear is the backlash. If it is difficult for the dial gauge to directly contact the worm gear tooth surface, a measuring rod can be installed on the worm gear shaft to indirectly measure the backlash by measuring the displacement of the measuring rod.
Lead pressing method: Choose a lead wire with a suitable diameter, generally the diameter of the lead wire should not exceed 3 times the top gap. Place the lead wire between the meshing teeth of the worm gear and worm, rotate the worm to compress the lead wire. Then take out the squeezed lead wire and measure the thickness of the thinnest part of the lead wire with a micrometer, which is the tooth flank clearance. The lead pressure method has high measurement accuracy, but the operation is relatively cumbersome.
When checking the backlash, it is necessary to first refer to the manual to determine a reasonable backlash range based on the model and usage scenario of the reducer. At the same time, during the installation and inspection process, it is necessary to ensure that the reducer is installed firmly and the anchor bolts are not loose, in order to avoid affecting the accuracy of the side clearance measurement due to deformation of the machine body.
