Which has a better deceleration effect, the cycloidal pinwheel reducer or the worm gear reducer?

Simply speaking of the "deceleration effect" (reduction ratio range+transmission efficiency+load-bearing capacity), the cycloidal pinwheel reducer is superior to the worm gear reducer in all aspects; But worm gears have irreplaceable advantages in self-locking performance, low noise, and vertical installation.

1、 Comparison of core parameters (deceleration capability)

1. Reduction ratio range

Cycloidal pin wheel reducer

Single level: 9~87

Dual level: 121~5133

Level 3: up to tens of thousands

Advantages: Wide speed ratio coverage, single stage can achieve super large deceleration

Worm gear reducer

Single level: 10~80 (ordinary), up to about 100

Multi level: Limited, usually not exceeding 200

Disadvantages: efficiency drops sharply at high speed ratios, multi-level uneconomical

2. Transmission efficiency (energy utilization rate, the most critical "deceleration effect" indicator)

Cycloidal reducer

Single level: 90%~95%

Double level: about 88%

Principle: Rolling friction, almost no sliding loss

Worm reducer

Not resistant to impact, prone to wear and tear, limited power due to heat generation

Cycloid pinwheel: coaxial structure, small volume (more than 1/3 smaller than gear machines of the same power)

Worm gear: 90 ° staggered shaft, large volume, high axial force
