Changing the oil in the gearbox is not the more frequent the better. Changing the oil according to the working conditions is the scientific and accurate solution
There is no absolute fixed standard for the oil change cycle of a gearbox, it mainly depends on the type of gearbox, operating time, and actual working conditions. In order to ensure the good operation of equipment and extend its service life, it is usually necessary to follow the principle of combining "oil change during the first break in period" with "regular oil change according to working conditions".1、 Oil change during the first break in period (applicable to all reducers)
When a new reducer or newly replaced gear pair is put into use for the first time, small metal shavings may be generated due to the internal parts being in the running in stage. Therefore, it is necessary to drain the old oil and perform the first comprehensive oil change after the first 200-500 hours of operation (100 hours for some models such as cycloidal pinwheel and 7-14 days for worm gear reducers).
2、 Oil change schedule for different working conditions
After completing the first oil change, the daily oil change cycle needs to be flexibly adjusted according to the following different working conditions:

1. Divided by working hours and load
Continuous high load operation: For reducers that work continuously for more than 8-10 hours per day, or are in a long-term heavy load and frequent start stop state, it is recommended to replace the lubricating oil every 3 months or after running for 1500-3000 hours.
Routine intermittent operation: For reducers that work for no more than 8-10 hours per day, it is generally recommended to replace them every 6 months to 1 year or after running for 5000 to 8000 hours.
2. Divided by special environment and model
Operation in harsh environments: If the equipment operates in harsh environments such as high temperature, humidity, high dust, and strong corrosiveness, the performance of the lubricating oil will accelerate and the oil change cycle must be further shortened (for example, to 3000-4000 hours or even shorter).
Long term disuse of equipment: If the gearbox has not been used for a long time (usually more than 12 months), it must be thoroughly replaced with brand new lubricating oil before being put back into use.
Precision robot RV reducer: This type of reducer with grease lubrication has a longer service life, and the replacement cycle can reach 20000 hours under standard operating conditions; But in high temperature or harsh environments, it needs to be shortened to 12000 to 15000 hours accordingly.
3、 Oil change operation and safety precautions
When performing oil changes in practice, please be sure to follow the following specifications:
1. Mixing of oil products is strictly prohibited: lubricating oil of the same brand and model must be selected strictly according to the nameplate requirements. Mineral oil and synthetic oil must not be mixed, and different brands of oil products must not be mixed.
2. Seize the timing of oil change: The oil should be changed after cutting off the power supply and waiting for the gearbox to cool down to a state where there is no risk of combustion but still remains warm. Complete cooling can increase the viscosity of the oil, making it difficult to drain the old oil completely.
3. Pay attention to abnormal warning: In daily inspections, if the temperature of the oil tank exceeds 100 ℃, the temperature rise exceeds 80 ℃, abnormal noise is generated, or the oil is observed to be turbid, emulsified, and contain a large amount of metal impurities, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection, troubleshooting, and early replacement of lubricating oil.
4. Environmental protection treatment of waste oil: The discharged waste oil should be properly collected and handed over to qualified units for treatment. It is strictly prohibited to dump and pollute the environment at will.
