How to judge the quality of hard tooth surface gear reducers and soft tooth surface gear reducers
To judge the quality of hard tooth surface gear reducers and soft tooth surface gear reducers, the following aspects can be taken into account:Appearance inspection: The high-quality gearbox casing is finely crafted, with a smooth and even surface, and no casting defects, scratches, or rust stains. At the same time, the nameplate information of legitimate products is clear, indicating the model, specifications, manufacturer, etc. If the nameplate is blurry or missing, attention should be paid to product quality issues.

Operation sound: The quality of the gearbox can be determined by listening to the sound when it is running. High quality reducers operate smoothly, with uniform sound and no abnormal noise, impact or vibration. You can use a screwdriver with one end in contact with the gearbox housing and the other end close to your ear to listen more clearly to internal sounds. If there are any abnormal sounds such as sharp friction, it may indicate a quality issue.
Temperature change: After running for a period of time, a high-quality gearbox will experience a reasonable temperature increase without overheating. If the shell is very hot to the touch, it indicates poor heat dissipation or internal malfunction, which may be caused by poor quality. When conditions permit, an infrared thermometer can be used to measure and compare the results with the normal operating temperature range for accurate judgment.
Sealing: Check if there is any oil leakage at the joint of the reducer shaft seal, end cover, and box body. High quality reducers have good sealing and no oil leakage issues. You can wipe the connection with a clean tissue while stationary, and check again after running for a period of time. If there are oil stains, it indicates that the quality of the seal may be poor or improperly installed.
Internal structure: If conditions permit, open the casing and observe the interior. High quality reducer gears have good meshing, smooth tooth surfaces, no wear, pitting, or other phenomena. The bearings are firmly installed, rotate flexibly, and there is no excessive clearance or jamming. At the same time, the lubricating oil should be clear and transparent, free of impurities and odors. If the lubricating oil is cloudy, blackened or has an odor, it may indicate internal wear or overheating problems.
View technical documentation: The technical manual provided by the reducer manufacturer will provide detailed information on key parameters such as rated power, input/output speed, and reduction ratio. By examining these parameters, the performance of the reducer can be determined to meet the requirements. In addition, you can also check whether the gearbox complies with relevant international or national standards, such as ISO certification, which ensures the quality of certified products.
