What are the precautions for S series worm gear reducers to operate at high temperatures
When the S series worm gear reducer operates in high temperature environments, special attention should be paid to lubrication, heat dissipation, and daily monitoring to ensure stable operation of the equipment and extend its service life.1、 Temperature monitoring and shutdown standards
Normal operating temperature: The surface temperature of the box should usually not exceed 70 ℃.
Pay attention to temperature: When the temperature exceeds 80 ℃, closely monitor the condition of the equipment and start investigating the cause.
Immediate shutdown temperature: If the temperature continues to rise and exceeds 100 ℃, the operation must be stopped immediately to avoid serious damage.
2、 Key precautions

1. Lubrication management
Lubricating oil is the key to protecting the gearbox in high-temperature environments.
Correct oil selection: The S series reducer must use specialized worm gear lubricating oil, such as L-CKE/P 220 # or equivalent extreme pressure (EP) oil, as the worm gears are mostly made of copper material. It is strictly prohibited to use ordinary industrial gear oil to prevent corrosion of copper worm gears.
Oil replacement: Under high temperature or harsh working conditions, the replacement cycle of lubricating oil should be shortened to 3-6 months. After the first 100 hours of operation, the first oil change should be carried out to remove impurities generated during the initial break in period.
Oil level inspection: Ensure that the oil level is at the center line of the oil gauge, and ensure that the worm gear tooth surface can be fully immersed and lubricated.
2. Strengthen heat dissipation
Due to the low efficiency of worm gear transmission (about 65% -75%), it generates a lot of heat, and heat dissipation is particularly important in high temperature environments.
Improving the environment: Ensure that the gearbox is installed in a well ventilated location, avoiding direct sunlight or proximity to other heat sources.
Cleaning the surface: Regularly clean the dust and oil stains on the surface of the gearbox housing to avoid affecting the heat dissipation effect.
Install cooling: If the ambient temperature remains high or the load is large, it is recommended to install a forced air cooling device (such as a cooling fan) for the gearbox.
3. Operation and maintenance
Overloading is strictly prohibited: Overloading is one of the main causes of sudden temperature rise. Ensure that the equipment operates within its rated load.
Check the seal: High temperature can accelerate the aging of the oil seal, so the frequency of seal inspection should be increased to prevent oil leakage and lubrication failure.
Monitoring abnormal noise: If there is an abnormal noise such as a "click" sound during operation, it may be a signal of tooth wear or bearing damage, and the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection.
Check oil quality: Regularly observe the color and condition of lubricating oil through the oil window. If the oil becomes black, turbid, or contains metal debris, it should be replaced immediately.
