How to Temporarily Repair the Cracked Housing of an NGW-L Gearbox
For temporary repair of box rupture, the following emergency plans can be selected based on the degree of rupture and site conditions:1. Glue repair/polymer composite material repair (suitable for small cracks or non stress areas)
If the crack is small and does not penetrate the shell, high-strength industrial adhesive (such as epoxy resin) or polymer composite materials can be used to fill it. When operating, it is necessary to first polish a "V" groove along the crack, thoroughly clean the surface of oil stains, rust and other impurities (which can be cleaned with anhydrous ethanol), and then evenly apply and fill the material. This type of material has good adhesion and oil resistance, which can effectively prevent oil leakage and limit crack propagation.
2. Plate reinforcement and repair (applicable to larger cracks)

If the cracks are large and it is difficult to ensure strength simply by patching, the method of reinforcing with patching plates can be used. Drill and tap near the crack, find an iron plate with a thickness of about 3mm, clamp a asbestos pad or sealing paper pad between the iron plate and the side wall of the box, and then firmly fix the iron plate to the shell with screws. The clamping force of metal clamps can effectively limit the further propagation of cracks.
3. Bolt tightening and locking (applicable to cracks caused by loose assembly)
If the crack is caused by loose assembly bolts or uneven local stress, it is necessary to first loosen all the connecting bolts at the crack location, clean the debris in the bolt holes, and replace the damaged fasteners. After applying thread locking agent around the bolt holes, tighten the bolts symmetrically and evenly according to the specified torque to ensure a tight fit of the box joint surface.
Important Note:
The above methods are all temporary emergency measures, mainly aimed at preventing oil leakage and controlling crack expansion, and cannot fully restore the original structural strength of the box. Due to the fact that the gearbox body is a critical structure supporting core components such as gears and shafts, it is necessary to contact the equipment manufacturer or professional maintenance organization as soon as possible after temporary repair to evaluate whether professional welding repair, carbon fiber reinforcement belt repair, or direct replacement of the new gearbox body is needed. During the initial operation after temporary repair, it is necessary to strengthen the monitoring of the equipment and closely monitor for any abnormal noise, oil leakage, or temperature rise.
