How to determine whether the FAF97-5.5-38.85-M1 reducer requires oil tank cleaning
1、 Core determination of oil stateThis is the most direct criterion for determining whether the fuel tank needs to be cleaned:
1. Visual inspection of appearance: Take out the oil sample for observation. If the oil appears turbid, black, emulsified, white, obvious sediment, or if metal debris or gravel impurities are visible in the oil, the fuel tank must be cleaned.
2. Quantitative testing and verification: When conditions permit, particle counting shall be carried out according to ISO4406 standard. If the oil contamination level exceeds the standard, or the oil viscosity and acid value exceed the original factory specified range, it shall be determined that the fuel tank is contaminated and needs to be cleaned.
3. Extreme pollution scenario: Previously, there have been failures such as bearing cage breakage, gear tooth breakage, and a large amount of metal shavings falling off. When changing the oil, the oil tank must be thoroughly cleaned to avoid residual impurities causing secondary wear on the components.
2、 Auxiliary judgment for abnormal operation
After the following operational abnormalities occur and other faults are eliminated, it is highly likely that the accumulation of sludge and impurities in the fuel tank is the cause, and the fuel tank needs to be cleaned:
1. Abnormal temperature: The temperature of the gearbox housing continues to exceed 80 ℃, and there is no obvious external dust accumulation on the heat sink. Even after eliminating the load overload, the temperature rise is still too fast.

2. Abnormal vibration and noise: Continuous friction "rustling sound" occurs during no-load operation, with vibration values exceeding 2.8mm/s, and the abnormality is not eliminated after oil change.
3. Abnormal fluctuation of oil level: The oil level drops abnormally in a short period of time without leakage, or the oil window is completely covered by oil sludge, making it difficult to observe the oil level clearly.
3、 Maintenance cycle and environmental trigger determination
When the following conditions are met, preventive cleaning of the fuel tank is recommended even if there are no obvious abnormalities:
1. Overdue maintenance: Accumulated operating hours exceeding 8000 hours, or exceeding the manufacturer's recommended cleaning interval of 3-6 months, without conducting internal cleaning of the fuel tank.
2. Operating under harsh conditions: Long term operation in a dusty, humid, and corrosive gas environment. Previously, only old oil was drained without flushing the oil tank, and the cleaning cycle needs to be carried out in advance.
3. After moisture and water ingress: Previously, the gearbox had experienced water ingress, moisture ingress, and oil emulsification. After drying and recovery, the oil tank must be cleaned before adding new oil to avoid residual moisture rusting the casing.
