How to choose WP series worm gear reducer model based on torque and speed
1、 Check the WP sample table based on torque and speed to determine the modelWP model format: WPA/WPO/WPDA/WPDO+machine base number (center distance)+speed ratio
Machine base number (center distance): 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 100, 120, 135, 155, 175, 200, 250
Example: WPA100-30 → horizontal, center to center distance of 100mm, speed ratio of 30
Table lookup logic:
Find the corresponding speed range based on the output speed n ₂;
Select the minimum machine base size with a rated output torque ≥ T ₂ based on the calculated T ₂ value;
At the same torque, the higher the speed, the larger the machine base size should be appropriately increased.
2、 Key verification (to avoid overheating/overload)
Thermal power verification (required for continuous operation)

The input power of the motor is ≤ the thermal power of the reducer (as shown in the sample table), otherwise it will overheat and get stuck during long-term operation.
Input speed limit
WP worm gear speed ≤ 1500 r/min, exceeding it will exacerbate wear.
Confirmation of installation form
WPA: Horizontal, with worm gear placed underneath
WPO: Horizontal, worm gear mounted
WPDA: Vertical, with worm gear placed underneath
WPDO: Vertical, worm gear mounted
3、 Complete selection example
Known: Motor P=2.2kW, n ₁=1450r/min, requires n ₂ ≈ 48r/min, moderate impact.
Reduction ratio: i=1450/48 ≈ 30 → Select standard i=30
Motor torque: T ₁=9550 × 2.2/1450 ≈ 14.5 N · m
Theoretical output torque: T ₂₀=14.5 × 30 × 0.75 ≈ 326 N · m
Selection torque (f=1.3): T ₂=326 × 1.3 ≈ 424 N · m
Table lookup: n ₂=48r/min, T ₂ ≥ 424N · m → Choose WPA135-30 (rated torque ≈ 450N · m, meets)
