What chain faults can be caused by abnormal meshing of gearbox worm gear and worm gear
1、 Level 1: Direct abnormal operation statusVibration and noise exceeding the standard: Poor contact of the meshing surface can cause "buzzing" resonance sound or "tooth biting" abnormal noise, and the shell will show obvious numbness and shaking, with an amplitude exceeding 0.05mm/s. The noise will significantly increase with the increase of speed.
Rapid temperature rise out of control: The meshing friction is greatly intensified, and the temperature of the box can exceed 80 ℃ or even be hot to the touch in a short period of time, far exceeding the normal working threshold, directly damaging the stability of the lubrication system.
Transmission performance degradation: Uneven meshing clearance leads to fluctuations in output speed and insufficient torque output, resulting in a decrease of more than 15% in transmission efficiency. In precision transmission scenarios, the reverse clearance exceeds the standard, and the positioning accuracy is completely lost.
2、 Level 2: Irreversible damage to the core transmission pair
Rapid failure of worm gear tooth surface: Worm gears with higher hardness are like files that continuously gnaw on tin bronze worm gears. The tooth surface first shows pitting and adhesive plowing grooves, and within 300 hours, a wear layer of 0.3mm or more may form. In severe cases, local tooth collapse and large-scale peeling may occur.
Deterioration of worm gear accuracy: The additional load generated by abnormal meshing can cause deformation of the worm screw helix, rust and wear of the tooth surface, further deteriorating the meshing fit and forming a vicious cycle of "meshing deviation → increased wear → worse meshing".
3、 Level 3: Interlocking collapse of lubrication and sealing system
Lubricating oil is scrapped in advance: a large amount of copper and iron shavings generated by meshing wear are mixed into the oil, causing the oil to quickly turn black and carbonize. The metal particle content exceeds the standard, leading to abrasive wear inside the entire machine.
Sealing system failure and oil leakage: Continuous high temperature and severe vibration will accelerate the aging and deformation of the oil seal lip. After thermal expansion and pressure rise inside the box, lubricating oil leaks from the shaft end and joint surface, with a leakage rate of up to 0.5ml/h. The rapid decrease in oil level further exacerbates lubrication failure.
4、 Level 4: Supporting structures and secondary faults of the entire machine

Batch damage of bearings: The additional radial force and bending moment generated by meshing deviation directly act on the bearings, resulting in uneven bearing force on the shaft, rapid pitting and peeling of the raceway, and even cage fracture and bearing sintering jamming.
Damage to the enclosure and installation benchmark: Long term abnormal vibration can cause loosening of the enclosure connecting bolts, local deformation of the enclosure, and continuous expansion of the coaxiality deviation between the motor and gearbox, which in turn further amplifies the abnormal meshing and ultimately leads to resonance of the entire machine and loosening of the foundation.
Sudden shutdown safety risks: Under extreme working conditions, the worm gear may become completely stuck, the output shaft may twist, the motor may trip due to overload, and even fragments of failed components running at high speeds may splash, directly interrupting the operation of the entire production line.
