Model meaning and installation characteristics of WPDZ80-30-B worm gear reducer
WPDZ80-30-B is a vertical, single-stage, cast iron worm gear reducer, belonging to the domestic standard WP series, commonly used in small and medium-sized equipment that requires large reduction ratios, smooth transmission, and self-locking.1、 Model meaning (WP series standard)
W: Worm (worm gear)
P: Plane (Flat Box, WP Series)
D: Foot installation (with base)

Z: Vertical (input shaft flange facing upwards, motor directly connected installation)
80: Center distance (distance between worm gear axis and worm gear axis)=80 mm
30: nominal reduction ratio=30:1
B: Dual axis output (standard type A: single axis output; B: Dual axis output)
2、 Installation characteristics and practical points
1. Base type rigid installation
This model comes with a base plate as standard, and during installation, the reducer needs to be securely fixed to a concrete foundation or steel frame using anchor bolts.
Operation points: The basic plane must be flat to prevent deformation of the box and damage to the bearings. In humid areas like Wuxi, it is recommended to install shock-absorbing pads between the base and the foundation to cushion vibrations and isolate ground moisture.
Alignment requirement: When connecting the motor and reducer, it is necessary to ensure the concentricity of the two shafts. Excessive error can cause rapid wear and oil leakage of the oil seal.
2. Flexible configuration of shaft position
Although the standard model is vertical, the WPDZ series supports multiple combinations of input and output shaft directions (such as input shaft up/down and output shaft left/right).
Installation reminder: If the on-site space is limited and the axial direction needs to be changed, it is necessary to confirm whether the lubricating oil level meets the lubrication requirements under the new posture, in order to prevent the upper part of the worm gear from being dry and worn due to lack of oil.
3. Multi level combination scalability
In scenarios where a high transmission ratio is required, 2-3 reducers can be connected in series to form a multi-stage reduction system.
Application suggestion: When installing in combination, an additional intermediate support frame should be added to avoid resonance caused by excessive cantilever length, which is particularly common on heavy-duty conveyor lines.
