What are the effects of the performance of K series gear reducer lubricating oil on the lubrication cycle

The lubricating oil performance of the K series gear reducer directly determines its "healthy life" and oil change frequency. Simply put, the better the various indicators of lubricating oil, the longer the lubrication cycle (oil change cycle) is usually.

Specifically, the following core performance indicators have the most direct impact on the lubrication cycle:

1. Antioxidant safety (the most critical influencing factor)

Principle of influence: During the operation of the reducer, the meshing of gears and the friction of bearings will generate heat. Lubricating oil undergoes oxidation reaction under high temperature and air, generating acidic substances and sludge (carbon deposits).

The impact on the cycle: Lubricants with good antioxidant properties can maintain chemical stability in high temperature environments and are not easily deteriorated. This means that it can withstand longer periods of high temperature operation without failure, significantly extending the oil change cycle. If the antioxidant properties are poor, the oil will quickly turn black and thicken, and must be replaced frequently.

2. Viscosity and viscosity temperature characteristics

Principle of influence: Viscosity determines the thickness of the oil film, while viscosity temperature characteristics (viscosity index) determine the stability of the viscosity of the oil when temperature changes.

Excessive viscosity (causing startup wear). Stable viscosity ensures long-lasting and effective lubrication protection, extending the effective service life of lubricating oil. On the contrary, a rapid decrease in viscosity will force an early oil change.

3. Extreme pressure and anti-wear properties

Principle of influence: The K series is a hard tooth surface gear reducer with very high contact stress on the tooth surface. Lubricating oil needs to contain extreme pressure anti-wear additives to prevent direct contact between metal surfaces.

The impact on the cycle: As the usage time increases, the additive will gradually be consumed. Oil products with strong extreme pressure and anti-wear properties have longer lasting additive formulations and slower consumption, which can protect gears from wear for a longer period of time. Once the anti-wear performance is exhausted, gears will quickly damage, so high-performance oils can delay the arrival of this failure point.

4. Anti emulsification and hydrolysis stability

Principle of influence: The breathing action of the gearbox may inhale moisture from the air or allow water to enter in humid environments (such as when cleaning equipment).

The impact on the cycle: Lubricating oil with good anti emulsification properties can quickly separate the mixed water (water oil separation), preventing the lubricating oil from becoming an "emulsion". If the emulsification resistance is poor, oil-water mixing will damage the oil film strength and accelerate oil acidification, resulting in the need to change the oil immediately.
